AIHEC CEO & President Carrie Billy speaks at first USA Funds, National Urban League Summit

American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) President & CEO Carrie L. Billy joined panelists for the first USA Funds and National Urban League National Summit on Success of Communities of Color in Higher Education in Washington, D.C.

The summit convened nearly 200 high-level leaders to promote successful access, completion and career attainment for minority and low-income communities through America's higher education system.

Billy and other education leaders discussed the importance of higher education completion and attainment, including strategies for helping move the nation from a college-going to a college completion goal and key levers and investments needed to improve completion results.

Generation Indigenous Native Youth Challenge

AIHEC has joined the White House's "Generation Indigenous Native Youth Challenge" and as an early partner, we agreed to encourage interested Tribal Colleges in organizing outreach events and activities with Native youth in their communities. There is no funding associated with the Administration's Generation Indigenous (Gen-I) initiative. The White House asks that everyone do their part by volunteering. If your students (aged 14-24) submit a really compelling and energizing/effective "commitment" or activity, they may be invited to the White House Native Youth Summit this summer.
