Federal Relations

Advancing TCU Priorities Across Federal Agencies

AIHEC works with federal agencies and the Executive Branch to ensure that the priorities, perspectives, and needs of Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) are understood and reflected in federal policy, programs, and decision-making.

As the national organization representing TCUs, AIHEC brings the collective experience and expertise of its member institutions to federal discussions affecting Tribal higher education. This work includes building relationships with federal officials, providing policy and programmatic expertise, responding to proposed federal actions, and working with agencies to improve the implementation of programs and policies affecting TCUs.

Central to AIHEC's federal relations work is ensuring that the federal government's trust and treaty responsibilities to Tribal Nations are understood and upheld and that the unique status and role of TCus are recognized across the federal government.
